Mr.Dev Agarwal

Dev Agarwal was born in Kolkata, India. Dev’s passion to capture the fleeting moments and its beauty was seeded early when he was in school. He attended the one-year photography course from Society of Photographers, Kolkata (2001). It was this course that cemented his love for the art of making images. In all his travels across the world, he had realized that the joy of photography is when you are walking down the street and you smile at someone and they smile back. There is nothing given and nothing taken. It is just like a little nudge, recognition of humanity and life. This is what it means to him.

Then he completed B.A in Mass Communication and Film Studies from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (2002-2005); followed by Post Graduate Diploma in Cinematography from the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune (2005-2009). Now Mumbai is the city where he lives and work. In 2012 he started his company Purple Haze Films to ensure a creative environment for all kind of films especially documentary films. His love for documentaries and still photography had taken him to various places around the world.

At FTII, he understood the power of a moving image. Cinematography had made a total invasion in his life and he got to learn this art from some of the finest professionals & teachers in India. Cinema is a profound reflection of man’s relationship with life and human creativity, facilitating an intimate process of communication with self and the world we build around us. It generates new ideas, concepts and associations through visual, emotional, cerebral and spiritual experiences.

He had worked with eminent Indian as well as International Artists and Theatre Directors. He had shot feature films, documentaries, short fictions and corporate films. He had shot with Discovery channel for a Travel & Living show filmed in different countries of South-East Asia. His other work includes corporate films for multi-national companies like Reliance, Glenmark, Borosil, Faces, VLCC and Camlin etc. He had shot an International Feature Film INVASION 1897 (2015) in West Africa, CITYLIGHTS (2014) in India and BOLLYWOOD DIARIES (2016) to be released in India. He has also directed non-fiction film titled Unheard Voices (2012), Light from many Lamps (2014), Moved By Love (2015) & Everest (2016).

Mr.Rafey Mahmood

After completing his BA in Economics, Modern History & Political Sciences and MA in Mass Communication, Mr. Rafey Mahmood went on to do a Post Graduate Diploma in Cinematography from the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune.

He then assisted and trained with some of the finest DOPs of India between 1990 to 1995 namely Binod Pradhan, Anil Mehta, Kiran Deohans, Anoop Jotwani and Piyush Shah.

After working in the media industry for many years he then became the Director of Photography (DOP) for feature films like Aankhon Dekhi , ‘Mithya’, ‘Mixed Doubles’, ‘Raghu Romeo’, Fatso ( Directed by Rajat Kapoor) ‘Katha Don Ganpatraoanchi’, ‘Journey to Mecca’(Produced by IMAX), Haasil ( Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia) , Red Shade, Cosmic Sex and many more. He has also done the Cinematography for acclaimed short films like ‘Tarana’, a 35mm Non Fiction Film on Indian Classical Music which won the Golden Lotus Award for the Best Non- Fiction Film at the National Film Awards, and many more. He has shot around 400 Commercials for Advertising Agencies, like JW Thompson, Grey Worldwide, Mc Caan Erikson, O&M, Leo Burnett, Mudra.

He has won the Radio & Press Advertising award (RAPA) in the year 2007 for ‘Best Cinematography’ in an Ad Film for Bose Audio Systems.

Rafey is also one of the few DOPs to be trained professionally for the IMAX large screen film format in Los Angeles.

He was featured in the Time Out magazine's story on " The 10 top current Indian Cinematographers to watch for " in 2009.

Mr. Ranjan Das

Ranjan Das has done his Diploma in Film Editing from FTII, Pune.After passing of FTII he has been involved as a Director, Writer, Editor and Consultant in Cinema, Television, corporate and Ad Films in Mumbai, Kolkata and Jakarta, Indonesia. He has written various Screenplays and stories for Hindi serials like Rihayee (Sony), Crime Patrol (Sony), Siddhant (Star One) and a couple of episodes of Karamchand (Sony). He has Edited more than 200 documentary films for National and local Doordarshan Kendras. He has also been amongst the panel of scriptwriters of BLACK MAGIC MOTION PICTURES. He has taught as a Guest lecturer at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. Currently he is working on Feature Film projects.

Mr. Raaghav Dar

Raaghav Dar is an alumini of the Film and television institute of India.

He has won the Honourable mention from BAFTA at the Aspen shortsfest (2004) for Bombay Summer, a short film directed by him at FTII.After graduating from the institute in 2004 he has worked on feature films like Guru (2006) and Jaane tu ya jaane na (2007) as an associate director. He then went on to direct his first feature film My Friend Pinto (2011)and is currently working on the script of his second feature film.Creating lasting moments through sound and image excites him more than anything else in life. He has also worked with the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris as a Collaborative director on Operas directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Vishal Bharadwaj. He has worked extensively on televison as a Creative Director and Director of short films, documentaries and commercials.

Mr. Manish Pingle (SYNC Sound Recordist & Designer.)

Mr. Manish Pingle graduated from Film and Television institute of India, Pune in 1998.

p>He has worked in international Films like Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts and The curse of King Tut’s Tomb produced by Mitch Engel. He has also worked as Indian sound effects recordist on the famous film LIFE OF PI - directed by Ang Lee and an Italian production, Flying Lessons - produced by Khussro Films. He also worked on Hindi Feature films as - Teri Meri Kahaani - Directed and Produced by Kunal Kohli, Rann - Directed by Ram Gopal Varma. He also worked for the Television series Satyamev Jayate and a documentary Chale Chalo on the making of Lagaan, a film which was was a runner up in the Oscars.

Mr. Rajesh Thakar

Rajesh Thakar is a technically astute, creative and resourceful industry professional and an experienced teacher with 15 years of experience in Smoke/ Flame and Editing. He has edited and done Color Grading on Smoke for various Serials, Ad films, Promos, Films, Promotional Videos, Music Videos, Documentaries and Short Films. He is also an Autodesk Certified Trainer for Smoke and Flame.

Malini Dasari

A Post-graduate in Management from IIM, Bangalore left her Corporate career to pursue her interest in Photography. In that pursuit, she studied Cinematography (Post-graduate Diploma) at FTII, Pune and has been working in the industry for the last 10 years as a Cinematographer. Her work as a Cinematographer in Student short film 'Avchetan' got her selected to participate in Budapest Cinematography Masterclass, Hungary in 2003 conducted by the Masters Vilmos Zigmond (ASC) and Lazlo Kovacs (ASC). 'Avchetan' also won a National award (Rajat Kamal for best Social issue based Short fiction film) the same year. Her Diploma film (Saankal) was selected for its Cinematography to participate in 'Camerimage' Poland, which showcases best Cinematography works of the World (2005). She has to her credit two feature length films (Ankit, Pallavi and Friends, Dreamz) and worked on various Hindi films as a Second Unit Cinematographer (Forest, Jhoota hi Sahi). The short film 'Waiting Women' saw recognition in various film festivals and 'Saheb, Biwi aur Pehelwan' another short fiction film she had shot won her Best Cinematography in 48HRS Film Project.

Early on in her career she has also freelanced to assist and learn from eminent Indian and International Cinematographers in Feature films and Ad Films (Kiran Deohans, K.U.Mohanan, Markus Huersh and many others from different countries)
